Cuba remains a perennial vacation package favorite with Canadians. The largest and most established resort area in Cuba is concentrated on the Varadero peninsula and there are many large internationally run all-inclusive resorts here to choose from. Sandals, Beaches and Breezes all offer huge all-inclusive resort hotels in the Varadero area.

The next most popular resort area is Holguin - located in the East of Cuba - and here you will find great deals on all-inclusive resorts here as well. If you are looking for quiet relaxation on the beach in Cuba you may want to check out Cayo Coco and the beautiful secluded white sand beaches.

Perhaps you are a seeking a little more cultural and unique you may want to consider El Capitol, Havana or even the historic city and area of Santiago de Cuba. Varadero is a just a couple of hours away from Havana and can be visited easily on a day tour or by renting a car and driver for the day.

Cuba Travel Tips

Note that US citizens are restricted to travel to Cuba and most visitors come from Canada or Europe. As a warning to the more modest traveler, some resorts allow top-less sunbathing. Valid passports are required for travel to Cuba. The currency in Cuba is called the Cuban Convertible Peso and you will need to pay $25CUC departure tax upon leaving Cuba. Travelers Cheques or Credit Cards drawn on US-based banks are not accepted and it is wise to refrain from taking photographs of government buildings in Cuba - including police stations and military installations.
