Starting Apr. 4 passengers on WestJet flights will only be allowed one piece of carry-on luggage, down from the two items customers are currently allotted. The carry-on item (eg. a suitcase, backpack or bag) must be no larger than 21 inches by 9 inches by 15 inches and it must fit in the WestJet sizing devices located at airports the airline flies from. WestJet is getting ready for its Encore. Earlier this month the airline revealed the first routes that will be served by its new WestJet Encore regional service. Fort St. John and Nanaimo B.C. are the two newest cities that WestJet will serve with daily non-stop flights from Calgary to Nanaimo and Calgary to Fort St. John starting June 24 and non-stop flights from Vancouver to Fort St. John beginning June 25. With the 100th Grey Cup game set for Sunday WestJet is stepping up on offence to help Calgary Stampeders fans get to Toronto for the big game. The airline has added a pair of flights between Calgary and Toronto, one on Friday and one on Monday, to get as many fans to the game as possible.

I'm not exactly sure what proper arm rest etiquette is when flying but I'm almost certain it doesn't involve a heated argument to figure out. However that's what it came down to on a recent WestJet flight from Calgary to Vancouver after a man in his 20s and a man in his 50s couldn't figure out how to share.

If my memory serves correctly a few years ago a movie came out about unaccompanied minors causing havoc at an airport. A quick search on Google has confirmed I was right. The movie was creatively titled Unaccompanied Minors and according to IMDB it was about "a group of unaccompanied minors (who) bond while snowed in at the midwestern Hoover International Airport during the holiday season and ultimately create a makeshift holiday themselves".

WestJet is now flying to Chicago from Vancouver and Calgary. The inaugural WestJet flights to Chicago O'Hare airport from Vancouver and Calgary took off yesterday. Flights depart daily from Vancouver until Oct. 27. Flights leave Vancouver at 11:40am and arrive in Chicago at 5:39pm.

WestJet is toying with the idea of replacing the in-flight entertainment system on their airplanes with tablets. The airline will give the plan a trial run in June when two of their aircraft will start distributing Samsung Galaxy tablets to passengers. But there's a catch, it will cost between $10-$12 to rent a tablet.
