Las Vegas will soon welcome another resort to its world famous strip. Malaysia based Genting Group announced this week that they’re planning to build a new mega casino on the strip that will have more than 3500 hotel rooms, a conference centre and a 4000 seat theatre. Resorts World Las Vegas will also boast some attractions unique to the strip including panda habitats, tea gardens and red pagodas. Construction is slated to begin next year with the resort expected to open in 2016. (Associated Press)

Do you know the code? In light of Prince Harry’s recent naked jaunt in a Las Vegas hotel room the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority wants to remind travellers that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. To make sure people are familiar with the code the tourist board has a website where travellers can take an oath to ‘protect the moment’.

Tomorrow Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport opens its new terminal, the $2.4 billion Terminal 3. The terminal is the "most-comprehensive expansion" in the airports 64-year history according to airport directors. Among the new features for passengers in Terminal 3 will be self-boarding gates and kiosks where they can check their own baggage.

Las Vegas is calling and now the people of Prince George and Hamilton can answer. WestJet has launched temporary non-stop service from both cities to Las Vegas which will run twice weekly for the next 11 weeks. According to WestJet's John MacLeod the routes are being tested and if they prove to be feasible could be re-intoduced as the WestJet fleet grows.

The Tropicana is one of Las Vegas’ elder statesmen. Opened in 1957 the hotel has seen more than five decades of change on the strip. Now it’s joining in on the fun. The Tropicana is undergoing a $180 million facelift to better compete with the newer offerings the strip has to offer. Among the improvements are new slots and table games, new restaurants and renovated rooms.
