YVR’s airport improvement fee increasing
Vancouver International Airport plans to spend $1.8 billion over the next decade to spruce itself up so it can remain competitive in the marketplace. What does this mean for the travelling public? It means that the airport improvement fee will jump from $15 to $20 come May 1 for those travelling outside of B.C. For those travelling within B.C. or the Yukon it will remain $5.

Flying out of Halifax’s Robert L. Stanfield International Airport is going to get a tad pricier. As part of the Halifax International Airport Authority’s new 10-Year Capital plan the airport improvement fee passengers are charged will jump from $15 to $20. The change will be reflected on airline tickets sold on or after October 1, 2010 for Halifax passengers whose flight departs on or after January 1, 2011. What's better than a tropical vacation? How about paying only $25 for that vacation.

Now since this is the first blog entry of 2012 I wanted to write about something happy.
Well what’s happier than Disneyland?
I mean it says Happiest Place on Earth right on the sign.
Well come 6 am on Feb. 29 – that’s right it’s a leap year – Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World will open and remain open for 24 straight hours.
Billed as “One More Disney Day” it will be the first time the parks are open for 24 straight hours.
I personally find something very appealing about careening down Splash Mountain at midnight.
So if your New Year’s resolution was to go to Disneyland the end of February is the time to do it.
