Starting Apr. 30 Canadians travelling to the Dominican Republic will need to present their passport when entering the country. Currently Canadians entering the country via direct flight can get through customs with photo ID, such as a drivers license and proof of citizenship, such as a birth certficate. Travellers must also have a return air ticket.

Travellers heading to the Dominican Republic don't need to panic after a case of cholera was confirmed in the country. Fears that the cholera epidemic currently ravaging their island neighbour Haiti could spread to the Dominican was inflamed after a 32-year-old Haitian construction worker returned to the Dominican earlier this month with symptoms of the disease according to Travelinfo.ca.
