Canadians will need their passport to enter the Dominican Republic starting Apr.30
Starting Apr. 30 Canadians travelling to the Dominican Republic will need to present their passport when entering the country. Currently Canadians entering the country via direct flight can get through customs with photo ID, such as a drivers license and proof of citizenship, such as a birth certficate. Travellers must also have a return air ticket.

Travellers heading to the Dominican Republic should visit a health care provider six weeks prior to their trip says the Public Health Agency of Canada. The Caribbean nation has seen a handful cases of cholera break out in the past few weeks but the Canadian government is not advising tourists to avoid the country.

There are now four confirmed cases of Cholera in the Dominican Republic. But the government of Canada is not advising travellers to avoid the area sending out this release telling travellers what they can do to remain in good health.

Travellers heading to the Dominican Republic don't need to panic after a case of cholera was confirmed in the country. Fears that the cholera epidemic currently ravaging their island neighbour Haiti could spread to the Dominican was inflamed after a 32-year-old Haitian construction worker returned to the Dominican earlier this month with symptoms of the disease according to Travelinfo.ca.
