Air Canada increases in-flight entertainment options

Flying with Air Canada just got more entertaining. The airline has doubled the amount of movies available on their seat back in-flight entertainment system and added more TV shows. Previously Air Canada passengers could choose from 72 free movies on international flights and 31 movies on North American flights but those number have jumped to 150 and 63 respectively.

Air Canada pilots back to work after “sick-in”

Air Canada says that things are back to normal today after their pilots staged and alleged “sick-in” Friday. The airline says that by Friday morning 152 pilots had called in sick, much higher than the 50-70 who would call in on a normal day at this time of the year.

Congratulations to Air Canada which was voted North America's top airline by an international survey of business travellers conducted by Global Traveler magazine. More than 36,000 readers took part in the survey. Other winners included Singapore Airlines for best airline in the world and the Address Hotel Downtown Dubai as the world's best hotel.

Arbitrator reaches decision in Air Canada flight attendants contract dispute

The contract dispute between Air Canada and its 6800 flight attendants has come to a conclusion. A federal arbitrator has imposed a deal which must now be honoured.The deal is one that Air Canada already offered the union but they rejected and union members are predictably upset. But hopefully now we can put the on again off again strike behind us for good.

The on again - off again strike by Air Canada flight attendants is off again. On Sunday the flight attendants rejected the latest agreement that Air Canada and union representatives had negotiated with nearly two thirds of voters saying no to the deal. That rejection put the flight attendants in a position to strike as of Thursday morning.

Air Canada and its flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement averting strike action meaning for the most part it's business as usual at the airline. The only schedule changes will be with Air Canada Express operated by Jazz which will return to its regular schedule Thursday September 22.

Labour minister says feds will legislate flight attendants back to work if strike goes ahead

The federal government will introduce back to work legislation if Air Canada flight attendants hit the picket line. The flight attendants can go on strike as of 12:01 am Wednesday morning. The back to work legislation won't be brought in in time to prevent the strike but will minimize the duration.

Air Canada's flight attendants served strike notice Friday meaning they can hit the picket line at 12:01am Wednesday morning. Talks are continuing between the airline and the union representing the flight attendants but according to a Reuters report cited by TravelInfo.ca although the two sides have made some progress they are still not close to agreeing on a new deal. Mediators appointed by the federal government are taking part in the negotiations.

Air Canada and dispatchers can’t reach deal

The Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association (CALDA) has rejected Air Canada's tentative agreement. The airline and CALDA's negotiating committee reached an agreement Aug. 19 but it was rejected by the union membership. Air Canada says service will not be interrupted. The dispatchers collective agreement expired Mar. 31.
