Always remember to take the knife out of your shoe before flying

Airports, Travel News

Who needs a suitcase when you can get creative by sticking stuff in your shoe.

We all remember Richard Reid, the man who attempted to blow up an airplane by detonating an explosive in his shoe, well now he’s got company in the category of dumb people hiding stuff in their shoe.

Transportation Security Officers at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, N.Y. noticed something strange with a boy’s shoe when he passed through the airport’s X-ray screening. Upon closer inspection they discovered a knife with a two-inch blade hidden in the shoe’s tongue.

But it seems the boy didn’t have any intentions of using the knife in the air as officials said he carried it to protect himself when he went to the mall.

The boy’s parents were upset but the police not so much as no charges were laid.

I don’t know what the more important lesson is here, don’t put weapons in your shoe or don’t go to a mall in New Windsor, N.Y.

But one thing I do know: we’ll be taking off our shoes at airports for years to come.
