Puerto Vallarta’s all-inclusive resorts are a popular destination for travellers from all across Canada, but if you’re a first timer to that type of vacation you’ll see it takes some getting used too.
Puerto Vallarta has an international airport, but in terms of size it’s small for an international airport. Sometimes several planes will land at the same time (the rumour was when the TravelTST Blog landed its plane was one of eight to land in short order) and the line to go through customs can look daunting, it’s not. Customs officials in Puerto Vallarta are very quick and the passengers on the TravelTST Blog’s flight were through within an hour.
After you get through customs you come to what we’ll call ‘the gauntlet’: tour bus and taxi drivers yelling at you (politely though) to see if you want a ride, there must have been around 100. In almost all of TravelTST’s all-inclusive packages transfers from the airport to your resort are included, as are transfers from the resort back to the airport. So when a taxi driver is telling you he or she will give you a good rate politely decline and look for your specific bus or van.
Many all-inclusive resorts will have add-ons that you have to pay extra for. Most will have spa services and those will always include a fee. Standard services at most Puerto Vallarta spa’s include manicures, pedicures and massages (many offer beach side massages).
Some resorts will only offer unlimited domestic drinks, so if you want international brands look for a resort that includes them in their all-inclusive packages.
If you want to take a swim during your vacation make sure you find a resort that has a pool suitable for you tastes. Yes most resorts are on the beach and the water looks very inviting but very few people choose to take up the invitation. A big reason for that is Jellyfish, in the waters around Puerto Vallarta they are in abundance.
The most important thing when preparing for your first all-inclusive escape though is to know what you want. One resort may be fantastic for a teenager but absolutely awful for an older adult. Different resorts cater to different people so give TravelTST a call and let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll match you up with the right resort.

Before buying the all-inclusive vacation packages, make sure you understand what you will be paying for.
